These are the natural colors of a jewel shell and a mussel shell at dawn. Right after this was photographed a wave came in and took the shells out to sea. I jumped back with the camera and tripod just in time!

I walked into my room and saw this cat resting in the field one afternoon. I ran and got my camera and put it up against the window. The sound of the lens touching the windowpane caught his attention and allowed me to create this portrait. Notice how his eyes follow you.

I was hiking up a trail at Pinnacles National Park on a hot spring day when I came around the corner and found this small blue butterfly resting on a Fiddleneck flower. Usually they fly off before I can photograph them but this one stayed around long enough to even let me readjust the camera exposure.

San Ignacio Lagoon in Baja California is a magical place to visit with Gray whales and their babies up close. The local fishermen take much pride in protecting these "friendly whales". If you look carefully you will see a second whale swimming diagonally under the whale in the foreground.
